Our Honeymoon Part One

Our honeymoon was so much fun, sometimes we wish we could go back and redo those first few weeks together again. It was also neat that we were able to see so much out in California! We stayed at two places while we were there, for this post we had a Studio at Carmel-by-the-sea. We really enjoyed our week there seeing the different points of interest and many places seen in magazines, calendars and even preloaded back round pictures for computers. The photo above and a couple below were from Point Lobos National Park, a nice place with many walking trails, beautiful views, and different native creatures.




San Francisco and all it's sights!! We spent a day here and we were amazed at so many people there, literally thousands. If it's not the tourists it's all the many people that live there. We were also amazed at the steep hills part of the city is built on, parts of it they can't parallel park on but they have to use that space, so they park perpendicular to the sidewalk. Also all the wires running above the streets for their electric buses was amazing, and all the city houses intrigued me, living there has to be something else! We really enjoyed our day in San Francisco, it was really neat to go spend a day in a really big city.

Did a mention all the traffic?? 9 minutes to go one mile, yes seriously!!

We toured this Catholic compound that is rich in history of the area we were in. Plus they had some beautiful flower beds! Succulent lovers the photo below!!♡♡



We enjoyed many evenings at the beach, sitting and enjoying the view and sounds, or walking hand in hand along the water's edge. 




The waves were amazing out there! Due to a canyon a few miles off shore the waves come up rather high and then crash over. I loved sitting and watching them roll in!

When my dear husband saw a brochure for whale watching he decided we better take this opportunity. I too thought it would be fun, until we made it the 10 or so miles off shore. It was neat to see the whales and different sea creatures but it was not neat to be riding about 12 foot waves in a boat. Thankfully I didn't get sick but was a little unnerved about the angles our boat was going, plus we became rather wet and the water sure is cold in the Pacific! I was rather happy that they decided we better go back early since it had become to rough out there.




Did all these sea otters and lions stink, plus they all bark about as loud as a dog!

The 17 mile drive was so pretty, and it was interesting to see some of the oldest Cyprus trees around. 


The famous lone Cyprus tree is around 200 years old and is now kept together with chains.

Winter in Ohio

 The above scene is typical up here in Ohio, although this year was unsually warm and not much snow. Just a few weeks ago we had around an inch of snow, in April! But the 60's and 70's have come and we are so enjoying the beautiful weather. It did get very cold here for a few weeks, I was about ready to go back south when I went to school and it felt like -15! It was sooo cold!! We had one big snow in February, I had never seen so much snow in one spot before! The snow piles were almost as big as the buildings! Wedding Pictures Part Three/Reception

Our cooks and kitchen helpers did a wonderful job at our reception! James and Rose Miller did a amazing job as our reception coordinators. It was an honor to have the couple I lived with while teaching, come to my wedding and have part! This dear lady has had such an impact on my life, and she too had a part in my wedding. Barbra Kauffman did a beautiful job on our cake, plus it tasted so good!! The topper on the cake has a story to it....the first time Josiah alluded that he loved me was when we were in a gift shop. There were many plaques I was enjoying looking at, and he found one that had the saying "love you to the moon and back" and said he should buy it for me. Later that night he told me his true feelings about me, and weeks later he gave me a plaque with that quote on it. I have loved that quote ever since! Our servers were a great set of people! I...

Anniversary Trip

For our first wedding anniversary we decided to take a big trip up north. I have always wanted to see the north eastern states and Prince Edward Island in Canada, and Josiah has a plan to visit all the 48 states that are together in his lifetime. So we planned a trip to hit all the key places along the way. I chronicled the trip in photos and picked the best to share on here. The above and below photo was are first stop, Horseshoe Bend in Altoona, PA. This site had some family ties and Josiah has always wanted to see it. His great-grandfather helped to build this track around the bend during the depression. Walking everyday for two hours to earn money! Now it is amazing to be standing there seeing and feeling the effects of a train on three sides of you. You can pay to go up by the track, but since we were passing through we decided to enjoy the entire view from the parking lot. Our next stop that day was Philadelphia.
