Reminiscing
During the winter
weather last week, Caleigh and I pulled out an old laptop and looked at
some old pictures. We couldn’t believe how much we’ve changed….and forgotten
about over the years. We remodeled our kitchen two years ago, so what it used
to look like was a bit vague in our minds. The process to get it there isn’tJ. The mess Andrew made
power sanding the cabinets, hand sanding the grooves, priming the cabinets
twice, painting them twice and then sealing them. Tiling the counters wasn’t
fun either; after Andrew finished tiling we couldn’t use the counter for one
week. With a family of 9 and limited counter space already that was tough, not
to mention going without a sink for two days! Last spring we were able to tile
the floor. Scraping off 12+ year old linoleun was a chore that took days. After
scraping glue of some sort off of three different floors, we are thankful that
we have brand new clean cement floors in the new house. It definitely was a lot
of work, but in my opinion the results were beautiful. As we finish our new
home while we live in it, I know we’ll have some of the same challenges and
hard work. But as I learned during the remodeling process of our present
home….”this too shall pass” and leave behind something beautiful.
