On Wednesday Dad brought Andrew and I out to the house site
on the way to work. There was a lot of work that needed to be done and it was
our last day, so Andrew wanted a good head start. By then I was so tired I had
to force myself out of bed, I wondered just how Andrew was doing it. This time
I was actually grateful for the coming weather. It forced us to have the house
weathered quickly and have a few days off from getting up extremely early,
being up late getting ready for the next day, cooking large meals, and the
cold! Even as they were working it was spiting and sputtering from the sky, and
the tempetures kept dropping till it hit 37 degrees. It was actually warmer at
seven in the morning then it was at three in the afternoon! Our “little buddy”
heater was used during lunch the last two days. The young men would bring it
into the dining room and all of us young people would gather around it, the
adults sat in carsJ.
Today everyone came in to warm up, the cars must have been too coldJ, but our soup was
steaming like it had been boiled. In the morning it was rather windy, but thankfully
the wind went down by the time they got up on the roof. All the Shetler men and
Nolts were helping; with so many guys there a lot could get done pretty
quickly. There was quite a bit that had to be done before the underlayment
could go on, walls framed upstairs, finishing the decking on the back, and
putting decking on the front.

Our hearts our filled with gratitude to everyone who helped
us with our house! Really we don’t know how to thank you, it meant so very much
to us! Many times we have read about people coming together and helping one
another like family; going the extra mile, but we have never seen it, much less
thought it would ever happen to us! None of the big or little things missed
us….

We have already come to love our new home, it already means
a lot to us and we would hate to lose it! Not just because we are building it
together as a family, but because people we just met, not even a year ago, gave
up their time and came to help do some hard work! To everyone who helped…we
couldn’t have done it without you, Thank-you and Thank-you!!!
