Welcome!
Recently we purchased about 12 acres of land with a late
90’s single wide Solitaire a few miles north of us. After much discussion,
thinking, and debating we decided to sell the trailer and build right where it
is located. To me this is pretty neat that we are finally building, we have
talked about it in the past and Andrew and I have always wanted to build a home
on our own as a family. Ever since he was a little boy Andrew has told mom that
one day he would build her a house. The last few years he didn’t say much about
it but when we couldn’t find a suitable farm we started looking at land and
Andrew started looking at floor plans. So in a way this is just as special for
us as it is exciting!
| The View!! |
We have drawn out at least 20 floor plans and mom has found out how opinionated her children really areJ. After all of us (parents and older children) putting their orders in, we finally have a floor plan! That took weeks and weeks, more debating, more thinking and many discussions later. We went from living in the trailer, to building a small cabin, to renting a cabin from Andrew’s job and building as we have the money, to building the whole house now. We have finally decided to build small and add on later. For the start we’re building a 43x18 two story house, dad well have his catwalk upstairs, he and mom well have their front and back porches and mom is getting her pantry and nice big windows. Us older ones have to wait on our stuff as it’s what Andrew calls, after market itemsJ.
Andrew is our head contractor in this and so far is doing a
great job; though nothing is seen yet besides floor plansJ. He has been the
builder of the family for many years and has only been getting better as he’s
gotten older! Pray for him in the coming weeks, its perfect training grounds
yet there’s a lot into building, especially when we are doing the work
ourselves. Many in our church have offered to help us, even though most of us
are busy building our church right now! It is sometimes frightening to think of
it all and how it is all going to work out but knowing we have many willing
helpers has meant a lot. Many have already offered their different resources,
time and knowledge. Two men have already taken lots of time out talking and
looking things over which we very much appreciate!
To finish up here are some prayer requests as we start what
dad has dubbed “The greatest adventure yet”.
·
First for Andrew since he is our head contractor
in this; our building guy, the brains to the whole house, barn and shop.
·
That we well be able to “weather proof”/ have
move in ready on the budget we have set. (We are planning to build the house
debt free.)
·
Wisdom lots of wisdom! I and obviously Andrew
are taken into the discussions of our building project so pray that the Lord
well give us four much wisdom and patience as different problems arise and need
to be handled.
·
That even though this is a very stressful
project that it won’t be! Lord willing we hope in a few weeks to take a short
trip to recharge and rest (all papers of any kind that have to do with building
will be left behind!J).
We have already taken time out to take walks at the lake, go to functions with
our church, and play volleyball games with our friends. Pretty much pray that
we will have proper balance of time and priorities during this project.
·
That we can move in as quickly as possible. Pray
that everything comes together quick, yet in perfect timing.
·
Safety for everyone involved in the building!
·
That our house will sell as soon as the new one
and the barn (the animals must have a home too!) is ready to be moved into.
·
Lastly that we well glorify God in all we do. He
has been the one we have talked to the most about this little project. We have
asked the Lord to guide and direct; to open and close the right doors. Please
pray with us for this!
