Life Group Meeting

The official site of our new home...we decided to move it to higher ground :)
Several families from our church met us out at our land, for some “brainstorming” time this past Saturday; the 9th. It was wonderful to have those that were experienced give some ideas, go over the plans, and help pick out the “perfect” spot for the house. Even some of the women got in on that:) The latter wasn’t too difficult since we knew we wanted it at the top of the hill, it was where would be the best spot with water runoff etc. Caleigh and I were able to get Andrew’s storage building ready for use during building, we had to get a wasps nest out of there…thankfully there was only one wasp on it; wasp spray handled that one pretty quick:)  
When the sun went down we went over to the Pletts house and had a bonfire, some of the guys cook hot dogs and we also roasted marshmallows and had s’mores. The younger ones enjoyed roasting marshmallows and eating them. Some of the guys would be distracted talking, that they missed the little flame at the end of their stick, and all but burned the marshmallow to ashes:) Thankfully it wasn’t too very cold that night so sitting by a fire was rather enjoyable. 

After all the guys arrived; they poured over our floorplan.

Winter in Ohio

 The above scene is typical up here in Ohio, although this year was unsually warm and not much snow. Just a few weeks ago we had around an inch of snow, in April! But the 60's and 70's have come and we are so enjoying the beautiful weather. It did get very cold here for a few weeks, I was about ready to go back south when I went to school and it felt like -15! It was sooo cold!! We had one big snow in February, I had never seen so much snow in one spot before! The snow piles were almost as big as the buildings! Below are some pictures of my winter experiences here in Ohio..... -15....when it's so cold it hurts to breath outside, I won't ever forget those cold mornings! I learned very quickly how to drive on snowy/icy roads. This is a very common sight when it snows. They are very quick on clearing all the main roads! Wedding Pictures Part Three/Reception

Our cooks and kitchen helpers did a wonderful job at our reception! James and Rose Miller did a amazing job as our reception coordinators. It was an honor to have the couple I lived with while teaching, come to my wedding and have part! This dear lady has had such an impact on my life, and she too had a part in my wedding. Barbra Kauffman did a beautiful job on our cake, plus it tasted so good!! The topper on the cake has a story to it....the first time Josiah alluded that he loved me was when we were in a gift shop. There were many plaques I was enjoying looking at, and he found one that had the saying "love you to the moon and back" and said he should buy it for me. Later that night he told me his true feelings about me, and weeks later he gave me a plaque with that quote on it. I have loved that quote ever since! Our servers were a great set of people! I...

Anniversary Trip

For our first wedding anniversary we decided to take a big trip up north. I have always wanted to see the north eastern states and Prince Edward Island in Canada, and Josiah has a plan to visit all the 48 states that are together in his lifetime. So we planned a trip to hit all the key places along the way. I chronicled the trip in photos and picked the best to share on here. The above and below photo was are first stop, Horseshoe Bend in Altoona, PA. This site had some family ties and Josiah has always wanted to see it. His great-grandfather helped to build this track around the bend during the depression. Walking everyday for two hours to earn money! Now it is amazing to be standing there seeing and feeling the effects of a train on three sides of you. You can pay to go up by the track, but since we were passing through we decided to enjoy the entire view from the parking lot. Our next stop that day was Philadelphia.
